Memory Box

Image of dancer, Rosie, leaning back against a large curtain of hanging string. Her arms are outstretched to the side and as she leans into the string curtain her body makes an imprint as the strings hang around her.

‘Memory Box’ is a reflection on the memories we hold on to after losing a loved one.  The work explores the tactile nature of interacting with objects, and memories gathered around us that have an emotional  connection to that person. Asking, are the memories in the objects, our hands that feel the objects, or are the memories held in the body, our own storage box for collecting and holding on to memories.

This work is dedicated to my mum, Shelia Hall, who died in March 2023.
